Every New Year the majority of us decide to step out of the wintering months of November and December for a brave new start in January. No more warm, butter-filled dishes and rolls; enter limited diets and shiny, new planners.
I am no different. In years past I have looked for new ways to get my life in order. I’ve chosen words to convey how I’m feeling and exercise regimes to (hopefully) fit my life…this time.
And then crap hits the fan.
I started eating healthier meals for one week before my daughter needed back in the ER. I was reading a book on leadership to plan for the opening of our new location next month when I realized I was late on bills and hadn’t sat down to create a budget this month.
This is not to say change is impossible or shouldn’t be pursued. But let us stop placing an enormous weight behind the new year goals. Any time of the day can be a fresh beginning, whether that is 9am or 9pm.
