Suddenly Unemployed

When I first drafted this week’s newsletter it was filled with reminders that my program “Build A Value Based Business” was starting May 1. But Monday I lost my job.

I’ve been staring at that email for days, opening and closing it, wondering how I could send something while feeling confused and lost.

I was wrongfully fired for two reasons Monday. First, because I stood up to a manipulative bully who purposely told my employee they may be let go in two weeks if things weren’t improved in sales. My husband and I, who both managed the company’s second location and had left our own business to work there, pushed back and said how and what happened was wrong.

Secondly, I was fired because I couldn’t handle the pressure of sales (a role I was never intended to be in) and because my mental health was poor (untrue and unethical reasoning).

Today I called one of the business owners who has hired me for this 12 week program and felt speechless. How could anyone want to be mentored on building a business after this?

It turns out, quite a few. Because I was fired for standing up for my values. It’s a living testimony I hadn’t been prepared to share.

I’m sitting on my parents’ couch struggling to retype this email while also knowing this struggle is temporary. I am proud that I was let go because I can focus on finding a business who DOES share my values.
